It’s important to have a professional who understands how to perform complete basement water damage cleanup and structural drying come and take care of any basement water damage as soon as possible before more damage occurs. Let the professionals at Brighten Restoration handle it so you don’t have to worry.
Basement flooding can be a very serious water cleanup matter and can go unnoticed for extended periods of time. From insurance company research it has be found that 98% of basements will experience water damage in their lifetime. This is not that surprising as most of the pipes in a home or business are found in the basement and that water will naturally gravitate towards the basement. Furthermore, if the foundation of your property has not been properly waterproofed then over time it is quite possible that the constant pressure will lead to cracks in the foundation and water seeping in.

How to Prevent Basement Floods?
You will find a lot you are able to do to stop the basement of yours from flooding. Foremost, it’s paramount that all basements have a working sump pump which will pour out any water automatically. Frozen Pipes in Tualatin!
The freezing cold which will come with the winter season is able to lead to major water damage. The homes in Tualatin which are left vacant during this season are at the greatest danger. When leaving the home of yours for long stretches of time, make sure to have the heater on and have a person check up on it from some time to time. Water pipes which are very susceptible to freeze as well as break lack the appropriate insulation. These frozen pipe breaks may be unnoticeable since they normally originate in your basements and crawlspaces where insulation is actually minimum.
Tell-Tale Signs of Frozen Pipes:
- Temperature - When the temperature outside falls to 32 Degrees Fahrenheit or lower you should start taking precautions to prevent freezing pipes. Some great tips for just that can be found here.
- Frosty Pipes - Frost can begin to accumulate on near freezing pipes that you can see such as under sinks.
- Low or No Water - When you turn on your faucets and little or no water comes out, the pipe leading to the faucet may be frozen.
- Strange Odors - A fourth sign could potentially be a strange smell coming from your pipes. If the pipe is partially or completely frozen, the only place for the odor to escape is back into your property.
